The Art of Communication – A Sub-30 Seminar
The Art of Communication – A Sub-30 Seminar
Sunday 4th February 2024
10:00am - 1:00pm
Led by Sadayasihi
In the Abhaya Sutta, a Prince goes to the Buddha with a real question: “Would the Tathagatha say words that are unendearing and disagreeable to others?”. It is a question that we ourselves might wonder: if we become enlightened will we somehow have mastered the art of communication so that we never again upset others by what we say?
But is not giving offence a Buddhist perspective? Are we simply avoiding conflict? Where does speaking the truth come in? On this study seminar morning for people under 30, join Sadayasihi as we explore the perils and pitfalls of communication from a Buddhist point of view, drawing on the Buddha’s advice to Prince Abhaya.
Suitable for anyone interested in Buddhism who is 30 years or younger. No charge, just turn up on the morning. Just show up at 10am, or come around 9.30am if you want to join us for tea, coffee and croissants beforehand.
Sadayasihi learned to meditate in 2007 in the Dublin Buddhist Centre while she was training to be a solicitor, having had an interest in Buddhism since she was a teenager. She was ordained in 2016 and is the Chair of the DBC, as well as leading a study group and teaching classes.
All our Sub-30 events are offered on a donation basis but you might consider making a donation to help us to continue to provide these kinds of events.
