The Perfection of Patience – A Sub-30 Seminar

Saturday 14th October 2023
10:00am - 1:00pm

Led by Sadayasihi

An In-Person Event

In the Bodhicaryavatara (a ‘how-to’ manual for aspiring spiritual practitioners), Shantideva, an 8th Century Buddhist scholar and monk, states that kshanti or patient forbearance, is the most rigorous discipline one can practice. He sets out clearly and directly the consequences of our failure to work with ill will.

“One’s mind finds no peace, neither enjoys pleasure or delight, nor goes to sleep, nor feels secure while the dart of hatred is stuck in the heart” (Bodhicaryavatara, chapter 6, verse 3)

On this study seminar morning for people under 30, join Sadayasihi as we get to grips with what kshanti is (and what it isn’t), what it requires from us in order to effectively practice it, and what and whom we need to exercise patience towards. Ultimately cultivating kshanti affords us an opportunity for the deepest possible transformation of our hearts and minds.

Suitable for anyone interested in Buddhism who is 30 years or younger. No charge, just turn up on the morning. Come around 9.30am if you want to join us for tea and croissants beforehand!

Sadayasihi learned to meditate in 2007 in the Dublin Buddhist Centre while she was training to be a solicitor, having had an interest in Buddhism since she was a teenager. She was ordained in 2016 and is the Chair of the DBC, as well as leading a study group and teaching classes.

All levels of experience welcome. No need to book in advance. Just show up at 10am, or you can come from 9.30am to have coffee and croissants beforehand!

All our Sub-30 events are offered on a donation basis but you might consider making a donation to help us to continue to provide these kinds of events.
