Yogaratna in conversation with Vajrashura

Both In-Person and Online

How might we respond to the climate emergency as Buddhists? Can there be one response? Is it possible – or helpful – to speak with one voice on this issue? Join us on Friday 3rd June as we explore these questions and more.

Visiting Order member Yogaratna – who has a keen interest in Buddhist responses to climate issues and has been involved in a number of acts of non-violent civil disobedience – will be talking about the need for a range of responses to the climate emergency and the vital importance of emotional resilience in any actions Buddhists might take. Yogaratna was ordained in 2003 and is involved with Extinction Rebellion and XR Buddhists in the UK, alongside working as a carer for dementia patients, and living in a Buddhist community.

We will also hear from Vajrashura about how an ethical life is a Dharma life, and a Dharma life is a life of transforming self and world. Vajrashura has been involved in the Triratna Earth Sangha conference along with teaching many Dharma courses such as ‘What the World Needs Now’, on the theme of Buddhist responses to social and environmental issues. In particular, we’ll hear about the framework of the five liberations to see how we journey to simplicity, connection and meaning.

With a chance for questions and discussions and finishing with a special meditation for the earth.

Please come along to the Dublin Buddhist Centre a five minutes before the event if possible.

If you cannot make the event in-person you can join us on Zoom
