Young Buddhists Event – The Bliss of Metta
Young Buddhists Event – The Bliss of Metta
Saturday 11th February 2023
10:00am - 1:00pm
Led by Sadayasihi
A group of monks sought the Buddha’s advice on how to deal with fear. The Buddha gave them a teaching – and that teaching was metta. Metta is, as Sangharakshita describes it, ‘the brightest and most positive of emotional states’. It begins in moments of ordinary friendliness but can take us far beyond our usual narrow channels of self-referential preference to the wisdom of interconnectedness.
Join Sadayasihi on this study seminar morning for people under 30 for an exploration of the Karaniya Metta Sutta, a teaching that sets out the importance of metta (loving-kindness, friendliness or goodwill) on the spiritual path, how to cultivate it, both in your life and through your meditation practice – and how doing this can take you beyond all fear to complete freedom.
Suitable for anyone interested in Buddhism who is 30 years or younger. No charge, just turn up on the morning. Come around 9.30am if you want to join us for tea and croissants beforehand!
Sadayasihi learned to meditate in 2007 in the Dublin Buddhist Centre while she was training to be a solicitor, having had an interest in Buddhism since she was a teenager. She was ordained in 2016 and is the Chair of the DBC, and regularly leads study groups and teaches classes.
All levels of experience welcome. No need to book in advance. Just show up.
All our events are offered on a donation basis but you might consider making a donation to help us to continue to provide these kinds of events.
