Triratna Day Online – What the World Needs Now: Triratna’s Gift
Saturday 9th April 2022
11am – 1pm
Led by Members of the Triratna Buddhist Order
Triratna Day 2022 focuses on our community’s contribution to the world: a vision of truth, communicated in a culture of kalyana mitrata (spiritual friendship), for the benefit of all. The day will be an experience of that, especially of being part of a global network of friendships for the good.
There will be six events—meditation, talk, a ‘tea break’, an ‘India visit’, a seminar and a puja—hosted from Adhisthana, Berlin, and Nagpur. Translation will be available for some sessions.
The symbol for the day will be the Thousand-armed Avalokitesvara. ‘Avalokitesvara in the World’ is the name of the £1 million appeal that FutureDharma will launch at the event.
Join in a very special day, with a chance to explore with experienced Order Members around the world what it means to be part of a global spiritual community.
Transforming Work – Buddhism Course
Starts Tuesday 12th April, 2022
7pm – 9pm
A Four-week Online Course
Led by Rijumuni
For most people work is an unavoidable fact of life. Work makes people and breaks people. Work can be extremely challenging and is often where our values and ideals come into direct conflict with outside forces and objective demands.
This course will explore how we can meet these challenges meaningfully and effectively by bringing Buddhist principles and practices into our work. We’ll be developing an insightful attitude to work that will help us to be more genuinely creative and productive. In particular we’ll be looking at how to make the most of working in lockdown conditions.
Rather than seeing work as a necessary evil we’ll see how we can embrace work as an opportunity to create positive connections with others and free ourselves from unhelpful habits.
Suitable for: Open to anyone who has learnt the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Development of Loving Kindness. You can book on to this course in the Sangha email or email us at info@dublinbuddhistcentre.org.
All our online events are offered for free but you might consider making a donation to help us to continue to provide classes on a donation basis.
Buddhism and Science: The Quest for Truth Course
Starts Tuesday 12th April, 2022
7pm – 9.15pm
A Five-week In-Person Course
Led by Vajrashura
On this five-week course, we will be exploring the parallels and the differences in these two fascinating approaches in the quest for truth.
We’ll be exploring a variety of areas, from both traditions, including classical and modern physics, evolution, technology and its effects, clear thinking, materialism and eternalism, causality and conditionality.
This will all be lead by Vajrashura, a member of the Triratna Buddhist Order. Vajrashura completed his undergraduate degree in Theoretical Physics and a masters in High Performance Computing before becoming interested in Buddhism, and is passionate about what both approaches can bring to our lives and to making the world a better place.
The course is open to everyone. No experience of meditation is necessary. While an interest in Buddhism is assumed, you don’t have to be a Buddhist to do the course. And you don’t have to be a scientist either!
This course is offered as an in-person course. While all of our events are offered on a donation basis, to attend our courses in-person we ask for a deposit of €30 to secure a place as space is limited.
Note that there will be no class on Tuesday 3rd May 2022. The course will run for five classes over six weeks, with week four being on Tuesday 10th May 2022 and week five being on Tuesday 17th May 2022.
